MASS. BROADCASTERS HALL OF FAME TO HONOR
Tom Ellis, Jim Coppersmith, Robin Young, Dale Dorman,
José Massó, Janet Wu, Gary LaPierre and many others

BOSTON, MA (July 14, 2010) — The Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame will proudly present a Gala Awards Ceremony and Luncheon hosted by WBZ 1030’s Jordan Rich, inducting sixteen of Massachusetts’ most popular and respected radio and television broadcasters into the Hall of Fame on Thursday, September 16 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Marriott Quincy, [1200 Crown Colony Drive, Quincy, MA 02169; exit 18/19 off Route 3 at the Braintree split]. Tickets at $45.00 each go on sale Thursday, July 15 and may be purchased on line at the new MBHOF website www.massbroadcastershof.org, or by mailing a check for the full amount of tickets requested to Mass. This year’s Honorees will include radio personality BRUCE ARNOLD, television executive JIM COPPERSMITH, on-air radio personality and station executive PHIL D. (Phil G. Drumheller), American Rock & Roll Hall of Fame radio disc jockey DALE DORMAN, esteemed TV news anchor TOM ELLIS, WBZ news man GARY LAPIERRE, WBUR FM’s 35-year host of ¡Con Salsa! JOSE MASSO, radio executive and manager PHILIP A. WEINER, WCVB TV’S investigative reporter and anchor JANET WU and WBUR FM and National Public Radio host of Here & Now, ROBIN YOUNG.

Also honored will be several deceased members of the broadcast media: WRKO reporter, news director, and news and public affairs director ROGER ALLAN, one of the great masters of sports play-by-play KEN COLEMAN, one of the Bay State’s most wonderful and influential children’s show hosts “BIG BROTHER BOB” EMERY, arguably, the most recognizable classical music voice in New England broadcast history ROBERT J. LURTSEMA, Boston Celtics’ legendary play-by-play announcer JOHNNY MOST and longtime sales executive at WHDH radio and the founder and president of the now-defunct New England Broadcasters Association, HARRY WHEELER.

“These men and women embody the talent, skills and values that are at the core of professional broadcasting. They’ve invested more than their time and energy. They have brought us great gifts, from music and insight to information and companionship. They’ve been our eyes and ears at our sporting events, at the State House, our city halls and our schools. As Massachusetts listeners and viewers we are fortunate to have had them in our lives,” states Arthur J. Singer, President of the Hall of Fame. “Through these annual inductions, the permanent exhibit at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, our archives and an active website now being launched with this announcement, the work of the people who have provided all of us with so much information and entertainment will be honored and made available to the public.”

Please note that this event is being held in Quincy at the Marriott Quincy Hotel. Massasoit Community College in Brockton is the location of the permanent Mass. Broadcasters Hall of Fame exhibit.

The Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame is an incorporated 501(c)3 organization and has an eighteenmember Board of Directors, consisting primarily of broadcasters, other media professionals.
